Prosthodontics

Prosthodontics refers to the design, fabrication, and fitting of tooth replacements and restorations such as bridges, crowns, dentures, and dental implants.

Why might I need prosthodontic treatment?

Chipped or broken teeth will require some form of prosthodontic care. Missing teeth also need to be replaced to restore the aesthetic look and function of your smile, as well as preventing future complications like bone loss in the jaw.

If you have a broken or missing tooth, Dr Amin will discuss your options with you and help you choose the best one for your particular situation. Once you have decided on an appropriate course of treatment, Dr Amin will provide you with a schedule of appointments and an estimate of the costs involved.

Is prosthodontic treatment uncomfortable?

Most prosthodontic treatments are carried out using a local anaesthetic to numb the affected area. Although you will remain awake during your bridge, crown, or implant fitting, you should feel little or no discomfort.

For a few days following treatment, you may feel some mild tenderness, depending on the type of procedure you have undergone. You can manage any discomfort with over-the-counter medication.

How much does prosthodontic treatment cost?

The cost of a prosthodontic procedure depends on the treatment you choose, how many appointments you will require, and how much — if any — preparatory work Dr Amin needs to carry out beforehand.

If you need prosthodontic care, but you are concerned about the cost, speak to a member of our friendly team about our 0% finance options.
